Your role
An operational support role whose responsibilities spans the design, build, deployment, integration, and support of Vodafone/Kyndryl core Management Infrastructure systems and services. You will work with key stakeholders to ensure right first time build and delivery on time. Document the Vodafone management/shared platforms implementation to a high standard and provide the right technical skills to enable the technical analysis and timely resolution for any service issues within agreed Service Level Agreements. As a Senior System Management Engineer you will ensure that the complexities of the management/shared infrastructure are understood, and provide support to further enhance stability, making changes to the infrastructure using agreed business processes and best practice. You will be expected to contribute, review, and approve new product and service releases. Feed in to and drive internal service improvement processes and initiatives.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership
• Delivery of 3rd line technical support during core hours and via on-call rota (24x7) for Vodafone/Kyndryl core Management Infrastructure services.
• Lead incident resolution to restore service in complex cross-technology environments. Determining root cause.
• Planning, assessment, and implementation of change requests.
• Work with and support the product development teams to ensure infrastructure engineering requirements are clearly communicated and considered for new products and technologies. Review all new releases prior to approval into service delivery.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Extensive Operations experience.
• Experience of deploying, integrating, and supporting enterprise grade management systems in complex managed hosting, or cloud solutions.
• Experience of enterprise scale managed services
• Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and influence their decision making.
• Demonstrable experience in identifying, driving, and implementing continuous improvements.
• Demonstrate substantial practical skills in at least one of these key products:

1. Tivoli Netcool - (IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1 infrastructure components [ObjectServer, probes, gateways, desktops including Web GUI, process control]; IBM Tivoli Impact V7)
2. Science Logic - (Science Logic 11.0 – Database and Data Collector configuration for onsite and cloud workloads. High Availability and Disaster Recovery. Monitoring profiles, performance, and capacity management. SIEM integration.)

• Wide understanding of TCP/IP networking within a switched environment; must understand use of Cisco and Checkpoint Firewall-1 firewalls. To ensure the communication protocols used by the monitoring products are working correctly, and to be able to troubleshoot any issues that arise, when communications breakdown
• Administrative skills in the below technologies:

1. RedHat Enterprise Linux or Microsoft technologies
2. VMWare technologies (Unix shell/PowerShell scripting; Lenovo/HP hardware)

• Self-motivated regarding personal and technical development with a view to subject matter expertise in latest Platform technologies.
• Ability to achieve SC clearance.
• Ability to achieve NPPVv3 Clearance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Degree Level qualifications in Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent.
• Good understanding of ITIL principles and their application
• Professional industry recognised accreditations in relevant technologies e.g. Red hat, Microsoft, VMware, IBM, or Science Logic.
