Your Role and Responsibilities

•Structure, lead and facilitate various design meetings and workshops, be the face of IBM to the client, dive into deep technical topics, discuss common architecture patterns and reference models, coordinate to ensure the right technical skills are on the team
•Establish the solution architecture approach, structure and lead requirements analysis, outline key architectural decisions, plan for milestones, manage engagement outcomes, and oversee cloud engineer assignments to manage toward engagement outcomes
•Analysis of client current state, define key outcomes, define/revise IT strategy, design conceptual solutions, plan and execute design and implementation work (with support from technical specialists), while accounting for time, cost and quality targets
•Work with business analysts and application developers to understand infrastructure, automation and operational requirements and build a backlog
•Educate, mentor and coach engineers and architects on frameworks and approaches
•Prepare and lead technical presentations or demonstrations to gain client commitment
•Contribute to architecture knowledge base and methods with technique papers, work product descriptions, architectural decisions, guiding principles, documents and code assets
•Lead architecture reviews to capture learnings and update methodologies and assets
•Lead regular technology lunch and learns to disseminate architecture knowledge





If you are hired into a Colorado work location, the anticipated compensation range for the position $128,000 to $198,000 is based on a full-time schedule. Your ultimate compensation may vary depending on your job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Required professional must possess Required professional must possess Guidewire Certification, as well as AWS or Azure Certification, along with AWS and Azure Cloud Architecture proficiency.
  • Experience working as a lead architect for an IT professional services firm or similar background in an IT architecture leadership role in a large enterprise.
  • Broad knowledge of major cloud technologies including virtualization, containers, networking etc. on different cloud platforms and additional knowledge or experience in the areas of IT and/or cloud technology architecture, service management and/or resiliency is a plus
  • Broad subject matter expertise across cloud computing, infrastructure, IT operations, applications, enterprise architecture, data management, and cloud governance models with ability to advise on industry-leading approaches
  • Architecture & design method champion to gather and analyze requirements, design and implement specific solutions. Expert level understanding of conceptual, logical and physical design stages
  • Led detailed design sessions to outline a backlog of implementation tasks managed through an agile process and backlog management including stand-ups, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Know how to apply consulting techniques (such as issues-based consultant, architecture frameworks and methods) in a range of business/IT solution contexts
  • Understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum construct to identify inefficiencies for cloud adoption through readiness assessments and development of strategies and approaches to optimize the implementation of cloud resources and capabilities
  • Hands on knowledge or ability with technology implementation across one or more domains: IT infrastructure, Converged & Hyper Converged Infrastructure, Cloud, Storage, Networking (Cloud and Non-Cloud), Enterprise Monitoring, IT Operations and Governance etc

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Broad design expertise across VPC design, IAM definition, OS tuning/configuration, Kubernetes, database tuning/configuration, DevOps toolchains, provisioning automation, service management, operations and security
  • Excellent communication & documentation skills to articulate the solution architecture and roadmap at executive levels
  • Knowledgeable of DevOps and CI/CD automation tools such as Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and cloud native scripting such as CloudFormation and ARM templates.
  • Knowledgeable of scripting with one or more: YAML, JSON, PowerShell, BASH or Python
  • Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration and management platform e.g., OpenShift or equivalent implementation
  • In depth understanding of security controls and implementations in the cloud
  • Must have worked on Agile projects and understand Scrum, Scrum Master a plus
  • Deep understanding of design best practices for at least one cloud provider
  • Familiarity with the logging and monitoring tools like ELK, Splunk, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail a plus
  • Experience configuring databases and messaging services a plus
  • Cloud storage knowledge of services like S3, Blob storage, Swift, Rubrik, Cohesity etc., a plus
  • Certified in one or more cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) is required. Multiple certs preferred across two or more cloud ecosystems.
  • Expertise with SDLC life cycle (agile and waterfall) and associated IT processes - Scrum and/or Design Thinking certification is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a plus
  • Mentoring and coaching of engineers
  • Ability to storyboard presentations to gain client commitment and buy-in
  • Assemble and lead a team of architects and engineers with engagement management oversight
  • Competencies and depth in IT strategy, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, and automation.
